SOC TRANG PROVINCE PARTY COMMITTEE BASE RELIC, A PLACE OF REVOLUTIONARY TRADITIONAL EDUCATION
 Soc Trang Province Party Committee Base Relic has a total area of 310 ha, located in My Phuoc melaleuca forest in An B hamlet, My Phuoc commune, My Tu district, Soc Trang province, about 30 km to the Southwest of Soc Trang city. My Phuoc melaleuca forest is a historical site and also the headquarters of the Party, army and people of Soc Trang during the resistance war against the French colonialists and the American empire.

      The Base area of Soc Trang Provincial Party Committee is a demonstration of determination, promoting the role of the Party in the two resistance wars, showing and affirming the people's trust, love, support and protection for the Party. That is the reason for Soc Trang Province Party Committee to fulfill its historic mission of leading the army and people in the province to continuously have victories in the fields of military, economy, politics, Socio-culture…With that great historical value and significance, in 1992 the Ministry of Culture, Information and Sports (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) decided to rank Soc Trang Provincial Party Committee Base Relic is a national historical and cultural relic.

      To meet the visiting, researching and studying needs of a large number of people, visitors inside and outside the province, under the direction of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee, the Soc Trang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, a number of relic items was restored, including the permanent house, the communication house, the canteen, the Provincial Party Committee's hall, firecracker shelters, freshwater reservoirs... By 2007, the Center of the Relic was built, including: Tam Quan gate, stele house, memorial temple, exhibition house, youth activity house, and an operator house. A number of other auxiliary works were completed and put in use on the occasion of the 79th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam on February 3rd, 2009.

       At the Memorial Temple, there are 14,695 martyrs' names who died heroically in the two resistance wars against the French colonialists and the American imperialists. The house displays 400 images and artifacts, including images of the resistance against the US of the army and people in Soc Trang province, the construction of the Base area, photos of the Provincial Party Secretary during American resistance war; a number of means of communication, living supplies of officers and soldiers in combat and our and enemy's weapons.

      Currently, the relic area is being restored and rebuilt with a number of additional items of relic works such as: Office of the Provincial Party Committee, communication station, cipher committee, finance department, forest tree planting, creating an open environmental landscape that is ready to welcome and serve people and tourists when visiting, researching and studying. In addition, it preserves and educates the revolutionary and resistance traditions for today and future generations.

      In order to better serve visitors, the Board of Directors of Soc Trang Provincial Museum has set out a plan to protect the forest, regularly clean the landscape and environment, and actively serve visitors from the welcoming stage, introduction as well as explaination, organization of photo exhibitions on holidays and New Year occation at the relic...

      Currently, the relic area of Soc Trang Province Party Committee Base has become a place of sightseeing, tourism, and revolutionary traditional education for the people, especially the young generation. Annually, the relic site welcomes over 5,000 visitors. It is hoped that in the near future, the relic will become an attractive eco-tourism area to attract a large number of tourists inside and outside the province to visit, learn, and study more deeply about the heroic tradition of our forefathers' revolutionary struggle. Especially the young generation in Soc Trang, they will be more aware of their responsibilities to their homeland and country./.
